How do solar panels convert the sun's rays into electricity? The energy is then routed to an alternator that connects the current to a battery that stores it until you need it. Most people just use their batteries while others store them for future use.
Solar power systems can be both passive and active. Passive solar technology involves using solar panels to create and distribute the energy needed to power a house. For passive solar technology to work, it must be weather resistant and have insulation installed. Some solar panel systems are now so advanced that they can run themselves, independent of any human power.
Active solar technology takes the energy from the sun and changes it into electricity. This is done by converting the sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity using photovoltaic cells or solar panels. Then it is passed through an electric generator that converts it to alternating current (AC). These solar power systems have become increasingly popular as an alternative way to power homes as well as remote villages that cannot obtain electricity from the electric utility grid.
